Meet Cathy

BIRTH & POSTPARTUM DOULA

Cathy (she/her) became a doula as her second career. After retiring as the Strategic Planner for the Secretary of the Navy, she and her daughter moved from DC to Tennessee. When she decided to become a doula, her friends all asked her what took so long, as she’d been talking about it since her 30’s. She was 58 when she did it, and tells everyone this is her heart job. Her compassion and enthusiasm are both boundless. (Her daughter calls her “annoyingly happy to be everywhere”). She prides herself on making her clients feel heard and understood.

She is a combination of your mom, your best friend, and the high school coach who says, “One more lap.” She is also widely known as one of the best huggers around, so if that’s what you need, you have the right doula.

Cathy is certified through ProDoula in Labor, Postpartum and Infant Care, and VBAC. She is also a Placenta Preparation Specialist.

She knows what an honor is it to be part of your family growing and changing, and approaches each client with humility and gratitude. She will absolutely cry happy tears when your baby is born, or well up when your precious love falls asleep in her arms for the first time. She is committed to ensuring every family has the best possible experience in their birth and postpartum.

In her spare time, she travels to WNBA arenas to see basketball games with her daughter, hangs out with her zoo (2 doodles and 6 cats), reads, and makes fun stuff with her Cricut. She and her neighbors (aka the “Cool-de-Sac”) have weekly fire pits and share stories of life and laugh a lot. She loves to try new things - hang gliding, pickleball, crocheting, tap dancing, skydiving. She believes life is more full with new experiences and new people.
