Meet Dez

BIRTH & POSTPARTUM DOULA (NOT AVAILABLE AFTER 6/30/26)

Dez (she/they) is a birth & postpartum doula who started doula work in 2021 before coming on board with East Nashville Doulas. She prides herself on supporting her clients through a trauma-informed and family-focused lens. She has studied extensively on topics such as attachment, infant mental health, perinatal mental health, and disorders. She uses these degrees to drive her passion for evidence-based care and meet clients where they are in their journey through parenthood.

In her postpartum doula practice, in addition to baby and birthing care, she is skilled at serving her families by cooking, baking, tidying, caring for plants, and being a listening ear. During overnight care, she works to maintain a calm home so families can rest, knowing their new baby is well cared for. She absolutely loves dogs, cats, fish, and most other animals, and is happy when they check in on their new family member, too.

Dez actively supports a wide range of clients and prioritizes diversity and equitable access to care. She works to provide gender-affirming care to those on the LGBTQ+ spectrum, to support those who are neurodivergent, and began her journey working with an organization that assists parents ages 13-21 in the early stages of their journey. She is polyamorous/ethically nonmonogamous aware and welcomes providing care to all alternative, blended, and ‘traditional’ family structures. In addition, she is passionate about supporting those who choose to place their little one for adoption or who choose to assist a family in having a child via surrogacy. Her philosophy is that everyone deserves supportive care, no matter their circumstances or background.

When she is not studying or helping a new family, you will likely find her traveling to new places, writing on her doula blog, or reading. As a former ballerina, mindfulness and body movement are incredibly important to her, so you may catch her at a local dance or yoga class (and she welcomes you to say hello!). Finally, she prides herself on the “jungle” of plants filling her home and frequents the Nashville Farmer’s Market looking for new ones.
