Meet Jennie
BIRTH & POSTPARTUM DOULA
Jennie (she/her) is a full-spectrum doula and health educator, driven by the belief in every person’s right to a pleasurable, informed, and safe pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. Guided by evidence-based research and a deep respect for the multiplicity of human experience, Jennie works with clients to inform their consent and trust their bodies, providing practical tools and skills to advocate for their own well-being along the transformative passage of childbearing.
Her pathway into birthwork winds through woven vocations as an artist, educator, and a mother in New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and now in Music City. In 2017, she trained as a postpartum doula alongside her role supporting operations and customers at MotherBees, a food delivery service for perinatal healing founded by Heng Ou, a renowned author and advocate for maternal health and wellness. Passionate about food-as-medicine, Jennie enjoys supporting clients with multicultural sources of information on perinatal nourishment, as well as learning from her clients and helping to facilitate their own cultural traditions and/or personal desires.
Jennie is also a lifelong student of the body and mind, drawing on 20+ years of study in experiential anatomy, somatics, meditation, and movement to provide a physiologically-informed and embodied approach to labor coaching and postpartum recovery. Trained in theater, a writer, and a filmmaker, Jennie supports her clients in making narrative sense of their unique perinatal experiences, helping them ground, make space, and feel empowered in all their decisions along the way.
