Meet Mackenzie

BIRTH & POSTPARTUM DOULA

Mackenzie’s (she/her) journey into birth work began in 2022 with Homeland Heart, where she first stepped into her calling as a Birth and Postpartum Doula. Guided by a deep passion for reproductive justice, community care, and maternal health equity, her time with Homeland Heart laid a powerful foundation for the dedicated care she provides today.

In addition to her hands-on experience as a doula, she is currently channeling her passion for healthcare into her studies as a dedicated nursing student. With graduation just around the corner, she is preparing to transition her skills into clinical practice as a Labor and Delivery Nurse. This rigorous medical training beautifully complements her doula background, allowing her to bridge the gap between intuitive, compassionate birth support and clinical excellence.

She believes that every birthing person deserves to feel safe, heard, and deeply supported as they transition into parenthood. As a birth doula, she provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support during pregnancy and childbirth. Whether a family is planning a physiological birth, utilizing pain management, or navigating an unexpected turn in their birth plan, she serves as a grounding presence protecting their space and advocating for their choices.

Her care extends seamlessly into the "fourth trimester." As a postpartum doula, she steps into the home to ensure a smooth, nurturing transition for the entire family. From practical newborn care and feeding support to emotional processing and light household assistance, her goal is to mother the mother, allowing parents the space to rest, heal, and bond with their newborn.

Mother to her child

We can’t say enough good things about our experience with our postpartum doulas, Brayta and Courtney.

The majority of our time was spent with our overnight doula, Brayta. She was a godsend—literally the reason I’ve made it through motherhood. This was our first child, and Brayta helped support me through long nights, frustrating nursing sessions, milk spills, all of it. Her patience and kindness were truly a blessing. She not only supported my journey as a mother but also took wonderful care of our baby.
