Meet Nakishia
BIRTH & POSTPARTUM DOULA
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Nakishia Fouse (she/her) moved to Nashville in 2004 and has since dedicated her life to serving women, birthing people, and families with compassion, knowledge, and faith. With over a decade of experience in healthcare, she has worked as a Newborn Specialist Coordinator in the Hearing Department and later in OB/GYN, where she gained firsthand experience working alongside amazing physicians and caring for women & birthing people through every stage of their reproductive health.
In 2022, Nakishia trained with Homeland Heart Collective as a Birth and Postpartum Doula. After working in the OB/GYN field and completing her doula training, she knew she was ready to fully step into her calling—advocating for moms, birthing people, partners, and families to ensure they feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout their journey.
Nakishia always strives to learn more about the birth world so she can better serve the families she supports. She will complete her Megi Health High-Risk Doula Certification Course (Cohort 2) in December 2025, becoming a certified high-risk doula, and will finish her Breastfeeding Counselor training by the end of December. Her goal is to continuously grow in knowledge so she can show up fully for her families—to teach, reach, and advocate with excellence and care.
Outside of her doula work, Nakishia is a loving wife and mother to three beautiful daughters and a playful pup named DJ. She is also an ordained minister at Watson Grove Baptist Church, where she continues to serve and uplift others through faith and community. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family and close girlfriends, enjoys exercise, and believes deeply in supporting women’s overall health—mind, body, and spirit.

We can’t say enough good things about our experience with our postpartum doulas, Brayta and Courtney.
The majority of our time was spent with our overnight doula, Brayta. She was a godsend—literally the reason I’ve made it through motherhood. This was our first child, and Brayta helped support me through long nights, frustrating nursing sessions, milk spills, all of it. Her patience and kindness were truly a blessing. She not only supported my journey as a mother but also took wonderful care of our baby.
